Barn Manager & Resident Lesson Instructor (Trade Position)
🐴 Preferred Qualifications
Equine Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years horse care and barn management experience
- Experience with daily feeding, watering, turnout, and basic horse health monitoring
- Ability to recognize lameness, illness, or behavioral changes in horses
- Comfortable handling horses of different temperaments and abilities
Instruction / Training
- Experience teaching riding lessons to all riders abilities
- Ability to develop and manage a lesson program
- Experience working with children
- Experience with adaptive or therapeutic riding is a plus (but not required)
Barn Management Skills
- Experience coordinating veterinarian, farrier, and other health care schedules
- Ability to maintain organized records and communication
- Comfortable managing seasonal programs and horse scheduling
Professional Qualities
- Reliable, organized, and self-motivated
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a nonprofit program, volunteers, and families
- Commitment to safe horsemanship practices
- Flexible with schedule and creative teaching
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, handle feed and equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
Nice but Optional
- PATH Intl. certification or interest in becoming certified
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Experience with therapeutic or adaptive riding programs
